Student Visa Agents

Are you interested in travelling or planning to purse your studies in Australia? At Bluestone Education and Migration, our student visa agents can help you apply for and secure a short-term study visa that remains valid. Upon receiving a visa, a student is also entitled to work 40 hours a fortnight during their course and full-time hours during course breaks.

Visa Criteria

Our student visa migration agent and education experts will work closely with institutions and assist students with enrolments, obtaining a Letter of Offer, Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), and preparing a statement of purpose with CRICOS institutions. In order to be eligible for a student visa, a student has to comply with certain requirements, including:

  • An applicant must be between the ages of 6 and 50 years old
  • Must be enrolled with an CRICOS credited Australian Institution together with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
  • Have the required level of English language proficiency unless exempt
  • Complete a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement showing a genuine intention of the student to complete his/her studies and not breach their visa conditions
  • Have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the period of their intended stay in Australia
  • Have sufficient funds to cover their traveling expenses, tuition fees and the cost of living in Australia, as well as costs required for any dependents included in their application.

Students are attracted to the subclass 500 short term study visa not only because they want to study in one of the most reputable countries in terms of education, but also because they can change their course to one which leads to a pathway to Permanent Residency (PR) in Australia.

STUDENT VISA (SUBCLASS 500)

The Student Visa (subclass 500) gives an opportunity to international students to travel and live within Australia while they receive full time education. Australia’s highly reputed and diverse institutions provide a vast number of different courses for students to choose. On receiving a student visa or higher education visa, a student is also entitled to work 40 works per fortnight during courses and full-time work hours during course breaks.

Another reason why students are attracted to the subclass 500 is that while onshore, a student may even change their course to one which leads a pathway to Permanent Residency (PR). Our international student agents, together with migration experts, work closely with institutions and assist students with enrolments, obtaining a Letter of Offer, Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), and preparing a statement of purpose with CRICOS institutions. With this visa you can:

  • Participate in an eligible course of study
  • Bring family members to Australia with you
  • Apply online in or outside Australia

Your stay

This is a temporary visa to study up to 5 years. The type of course and its length will determine the timeframe of your stay. You may be eligible to get an international student visa extension for studies lasting longer than 5 years.

Primary school children enrolled in years 1-4 will generally only be granted a student visa for a maximum period of 3 years.

Stay longer

If you wish to stay longer in Australia and you are wondering “can I extend my student visa?”, you need to have another student visa.

After your study of two years, and if you have completed a qualification in Australia in the last six months, you can apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).

Bluestone Education can help you renew a student visa in Australia and check if you are eligible for any other visa if extending your student visa in Australia isn’t possible.

Including your family

When on a student visa, you can have your family accompany you for the timeframe of your stay in Australia.

  • Your partner, or
  • You or your partner’s dependent child who is unmarried and has not turned 18 years of age.

You have to declare your dependents on your visa application. If you don’t, your family member may not be eligible to join you. Get in touch with us for more information.

Everyone on the visa needs to meet the health and character requirements for the visa.
